X Vape FOG vs X Max Starry: Which One’s for You?

What’s up VapeFusers,

My favorite line of vapes at the moment is the X Max and X Vape series. If you’re a price-conscious consumer that also loves quality vaporizers, TopGreen Technology has a vaporizer to suit you.

The brand has a bunch of portable dry herb and wax vaporizers that you can check out in our recently unveiled X Max product showcase.

TopGreen Tech’s two crowning jewels are the X Max Starry and X Vape FOG; portable powerhouses that are ready to fulfill all of your dried herb requirements. If you’re after a new portable herb vape, this one’s for you!

X Vape FOG vs X Max Starry: VapeFuse Review

While the two portable devices look very similar from the outside, there are a number of notable differences that are present when breaking down these vapes.

The X Vape FOG is roughly the same size as Storz & Bickel’s Crafty, whereas the X Max Starry is far more compact and slides easier into your pocket and your hand.

Both the FOG and the Starry come equipped with black zirconia mouthpieces that deliver cool vapor and leave no residual flavor. Compared to the Crafty or Mighty, the mouthpiece is super easy to clean coming apart for maximum ease of maintenance.

Starting from the top, the first notable difference between the two is the mouthpiece. The X Max Starry’s mouthpiece connects magnetically and comes right off when you’re packing or cleaning the device.

The X Vape FOG has a semi-detached mouthpiece that flips via a hinge to reveal the chamber beneath. It features the same filter system and cooling unit as the X Max Starry which comes apart into three pieces for a quick clean.

While both the FOG and the Starry are equipped with the black zirconia mouthpiece, the chamber and subsequent vapor path are quite different. This is what causes the greatest disparity between the two I believe, with the X Vape FOG coming out on top in terms of both vapor quality and production.

Like the Crafty, the FOG is designed with an inbuilt metal baking chamber for full convection vaping. Whereas the Crafty features an aluminum chamber, the X Vape FOG has an inbuilt chamber constructed from stainless steel.

The vapor produced is very similar to the Crafty, which is astounding as it does it at roughly half the price. Airflow in this device is semi-restricted, however, it has been optimized for consistency and you’re still able to draw massive hits of vapor.

Like many lower-priced vaporizers, the X Max Starry is equipped with an 11-point ceramic chamber for herb vaporization. The vapor produced is dense and of high quality, however, the flavor profile is not as pronounced as the FOG’s

X Vape FOG vs X Max Starry - chamber inserts

Both the X Vape FOG and the X Max Starry are capable of vaporizing concentrates via included chamber inserts, however, these portable devices are optimized for dry herb consumption, so you should think about getting a vape pen for all your wax and concentrate needs.

The Starry comes with a cotton waxy cup that topped with a mesh screen for wax and oil vaping. The FOG has an included liquid pad, which is superior in my opinion.

If you’re interested in learning about dabbing with liquid pads, I recently posted an article about the steel mesh inserts and was presently surprised by the quality of the concentrate vapor produced.

Xmax Starry and XVape FOG vaporizer displays

What surprised me about the X Vape FOG was its lack of digital OLED interface and full-spectrum temperature control. While this isn’t uncommon in premium portable devices (think Vapir Prima and Arizer Solo), many vapers find comfort in being able to fully vape their blend across a broad temperature range.

In this case, as with that of the Prima and Solo, temp control is pretty unnecessary as the FOG has five set temperatures ranging from 180°C (356°F) to 220°C (428°F), which is the perfect range for dry herb vaporization.

The X Max Starry comes equipped with an advanced embedded OLED display that shows set and actual temp, battery life, a session timer, as well as the heating icon. Its full spectrum temperature ranges from 100°C (212°F) to 240°C (464°F).

The X Vape FOG is the best value for money portable vape that I’ve come across. This is a connoisseur-grade vaporizer with an affordable price tag.

If you’re on the lookout for a premium portable with super high-quality vapor production, an insane heat-up time and great battery life, this vape is definitely for you.

Included in the X Vape FOG’s kit:

  • X Vape FOG Unit
  • USB Charging Cable
  • Samsung 18650 Rechargeable Battery
  • Liquid Pad
  • Packing Tool
  • Cleaning Brush
  • Screen Cleaning Tool
  • Packing Tweezer
  • Replacement screens
  • User’s Manual

While the X Max Starry is an all-around powerhouse, the quality and flavor profile of the vapor produced isn’t up to the standard of the X Vape FOG.

This is an ideal device for beginners and vaping veterans alike, however, it lacks that connoisseur-grade vapor production that the FOG has been shown to produce.

All in all, the Starry is super affordable and the perfect device for someone looking to make the switch from smoking or pick up a portable to go along with their desktop.
