Wolkenkraft FX+ Dry Herb Convection Vaporizer Review

The Wolkenkraft FX+ is a unique dry herb vaporizer that is super simple to use. We got our hands on an FX+ recently and have been testing it out here in the office diligently.

Let me share with you what we have found so far.

The Wolkenkraft FX+ is a true convection vaporizer. It utilizes a patented technology to heat the air that flows through the stainless steel baking chamber.

Wolkenkraft FX+ Dry Herb Convection Vaporizer

It is a simple but good looking and practically designed vaporizer with a single-button operation. It is a similar size vaporizer to the Storz & Bickel Crafty with 111mm hight. 58mm width and 28mm depth.

The airflow is fully isolated from the electronics making the vapor out of the Wolkenkraft FX+ quite good tasting. The materials used seem to be of high quality. Despite the plastic body, the glass mouthpiece is a nice touch.

All these efforts add up and we were quite pleased how good quality vapor this vape produces.

The Wolkenkraft FX+ is powered by a built-in, 2300 mAh class A lithium battery, that should hold the charge over 300 cycles or more.

What’s included in the box of the Wolkenkraft FX+

Using the Wolkenkraft FX+ Portable Vaporizer

As I mentioned, this is a single button vaporizer and it is really simple to use. Before using it the first time, it is recommended that you put it on the charger for a few hours to get the battery conditioned.

The battery charges with a supplied micro USB and the charging port is located on the bottom of the vaporizer. Just beside the micro USB port, there is a small LED indicator to let you know the battery’s charge level.

When this LED is green, you have a battery charge between 100% and 60%, orange indicates 60% to 20% and red means that your battery has less than 20% charge and it is time to put it on the charger.

Wolkenkraft FX+ Vaporizer Baking Chamber loaded

Expose the baking chamber of the Wolkenkraft FX+ by twisting the top into either direction. Pack your chamber with ground herbs or use the supplied stainless steel wax cap for concentrates and oils.

To turn the FX+ on, simply press the button 5 times in a sequence.

The Wolkenkraft will vibrate and starts heating up. It takes about 40 seconds to heat up and then you are ready to go. The LED on the top of the unit flashes while the device is heating up.

You have 6 preset temperature settings to choose from. You can toggle between these settings by pressing the power button twice in a row.

The temperature level is indicated by the LED color.

White is the lowest setting at 170 Celsius (338 Fahrenheit). Second is the green color at 180 °C (356 °F), cyan at 190 °C (374 °F), next up is blue at 200 °C (392 °F), followed by purple at 210 °C (410 °F) and then the red is the top temp at 220 °C (428 °F).

Another feature of the Wolkenkraft FX+ is the ability to change inhale mode settings.

There are two methods you can choose from, soft mode and enhance mode. They are designed to suit your vaping style. Some people like to vape softly with small draws while others prefer bigger clouds.

You can switch between the two inhale modes by pressing the button for 3 seconds or so. When the LED is flashing rapidly, you are in ‘enhance’ mode, while the LED is flashing slowly you are in soft mode.

The Wolkenkraft FX+ auto-shuts off after 5 minutes. You can simply press the button 5 times again to start another session. Having said that, like with most vaporizers, you’ll be able to bring a longer lifespan out of them if you allow the vaporizer to cool down for 5 minutes or so between sessions.

My final thoughts on the Wolkenkraft FX+

Wolkenkraft FX+ Vaporizer in Use

I was quite positively surprised by how well this vaporizer performs. I wasn’t sure how the single-button operation with no screen would go. After using the device, I thought the top LED is a quite intuitive way to communicate to the user. It is right in your face while you are using the FX+, so it makes a lot of sense.

The vapor quality was above what I expected, the Wolkenkraft FX+ is a true convection vaporizer and makes great quality vapor. Despite the closeness of the mouthpiece to the baking chamber, the vapor isn’t too hot and the mouthpiece doesn’t get overly hot either. A great, easy to operate vaporizer that I am happy to recommend to anyone looking for a simple to use portable vaporizer.

If you are after a vaporizer with a digital display and the ability to adjust the temperature by the degree, Wolkenkraft also makes the FX Mini vaporizer that we’ll have a review on coming up in the coming weeks.
