The Vapir NO2 portable vaporizer has been on the market for many years and created a huge fan base around the world.
Vapir is based in San Jose, in the heart of Silicon Valley in California and they are famous for their easy to use and durable vaporizers.
Vapir most likely won’t be making the Vapir NO2 for too much longer, as the Prima is now their main portable vaporizer. The NO2 is still a very competitive portable vaporizer though and definitely worth considering.
First Impression of the Vapir NO2 Portable Vaporizer
The NO2 comes in nice and colourful packaging, just like all the other Vapir vaporizers.

The Vapir NO2 looks quite big when you first see it however, it is actually rather lightweight.
Despite the weight, holding the NO2 makes it feel like a quality device. Simplicity is a major feature of the NO2 and it does come across straight away.
Design of the Vapir NO2
The design of the NO2 is like no other vaporizer that I’ve seen. It is very unique and the more I used the device, the more I got to like its concept.
It feels very good in the hand and comfortable to use. Due to its design (and size), it doesn’t heat up the exterior as much as some of the smaller vaporizers do.
Many users say that it looks like a drinking bottle with the tube on however, in my view, it is not the most discreet portable vaporizer. It is more like a portable device for home use than a portable vape that you would want to carry around.
If you do need one to carry around, check out the Vapir Prima, that is super discreet and was designed to be carried around in your pocket.
So the NO2 is best to be used at home or a more permanent location, however, it surely has the portability option if you need to take it somewhere occasionally.
The design is very robust and tough. Just like the Vapir Prima, the NO2 was also designed with durability in mind. Dropping the NO2 quite a few times had absolutely no effect on the device.
Durability is achieved by using food grade plastic. Some people aren’t a huge fan of plastic in the vapor path. Having said that, the hugely popular Storz & Bickel Crafty and Mighty portable vaporizers are both made with fully plastic vapor path. I personally don’t mind as long as the vapor quality is unaffected. I’ll share with you more on the vapor quality of the NO2 in a bit.
How The Vapir NO2 Portable Dry Herb Vaporizer Works
Open the box and have a quick read of the owner’s manual.
You’ll notice straight away, that it is super easy to get up and running with the device.
Best is to condition the battery on the first charge, so be prepared to leave it on the charger for 8 to 12 hours, before using the device for the first time.
Doing this step will give you a longer lasting battery. More on the battery later though, let’s move on for now.
Once you have the battery ready to go, all you have to do is grind your herbs to fine consistency and open the chamber.
To do that, simply turn the mouthpiece counter clockwise. Vapir recommends to fill the chamber to ¾, however, I found that you can fill it up to the top of the metal chamber if you don’t pack it tight.
Feel free to experience with it, as your preference may be totally different to mine.
If you did the right thing and read the user’s manual, you noticed that Vapir’s Quickstart guide recommends to turn on the unit first and then open and pack the chamber.
This did not make sense to me with Version 2, as it heats up so quickly anyways. I find it easier to load it while the chamber is cool, so I always pack the chamber first and then heat it up afterward.
So first, I turn it on with the switch on the side and then set my desired temperature with the plus and minus buttons.
The NO2 should be able to vaporize most herbs with the temperature range of 65 to 204 Celsius (150 to 400 Fahrenheit).
Just like most quality vaporizers these days, the Vapir NO2 Portable Vaporizer remembers your temperature setting the next time you turn it on.
Press the red button to heat up the vaporizer.
It heats up very quickly and it is ready to use in about a minute or so. Easy as that.
Digital Display of the NO2 Vaporizer
Vapir is very good at simplifying their powerful devices, the digital display is a testament to that. It displays the actual temperature of the chamber and the battery indicator. That’s it.
When you press the + or – signs to adjust temperature, it will show the set temperature and then in a few seconds it switches back to show the actual temperature again.
The temperature can be displayed in Celsius or Fahrenheit. All you have to do is press the red power button for 3 to 5 seconds to switch between the two.
The temperature range is 65 to 204 Celsius (150 to 400 Fahrenheit) and you can set the device to the degree. It heats up really fast and seems to keep the chamber temperature very well.
Battery
I really like the modularity of the Vapir devices. All their portable devices, including the NO2 comes with a replaceable Lithium-Ion battery.
There are two big advantages to that:
- The life of your device is not limited to the life of your battery. It is especially handy with a long lasting durable vaporizer as the Vapir NO2. I have been using mine for years and many others in our VapeFuse community have been using their NO2 daily, year after year after year. You may have to change the battery every now and then, however not the whole device. This is a huge advantage of the Vapir vaporizers over the Storz & Bickel Mighty and Crafty, that just don’t last as long as the Vapir ones, largely due to their replaceable battery.
- You can always have a replacement or two, so you are not limited to the battery life with your vaping sessions. Very handy when you have friends around and may want to use your device beyond what one battery charge enables you.
The vaporizer works with the charging cable plugged in as well, so theoretically you can charge the device while you are using it.
However, if you’ve read any of my other reviews, you may know that I am not a huge fan of using portable vaporizers while they are on the charger.
First of all, they carry a little amount of risk as they are plugged in, and also because it is not really good for the battery.
You can actually shorten the life of your battery if you are charging and drawing the battery at the same time.
In terms of battery life, you get about 4 or 5 sessions on one battery. It is not the longest battery life among the portable vaporizers. However, it’s still good enough, considering that you can always have spare batteries for this device. And if you choose to do so, you can use it on the charging cord as well.
Vapor Quality of the Vapir NO2
Vapor quality is excellent among other well known portable vaporizer brands, and right up there with desktop device vapor quality.
Despite the plastic vapor path, the vapor tastes very clean and pure.
I like to run the NO2 around 180 Celsius and may increase it slightly, as I progress through the vaporizing session.
As I mentioned before, the NO2 has a large fan base and many people really like the vapor quality this device produces. I have tried many devices and I believe it produces top quality vapor, indeed.
You would want to use the plastic tube, so the vapor has a little longer path and has a better chance to cool down.

Cleaning and Maintaining the Vapir NO2 Portable Vaporizer
The Vapir NO2 is quite easy to clean and maintain. The screen on the bottom of the chamber is the most challenging part to keep clean however, the good thing is that they can be replaced relatively easily.
This is hugely beneficial, as it significantly extends the lifespan of your vaporizer. The NO2 (as well as the Vapir Prima) was created with longevity in mind.
Vapir may not put much emphasis on this in their marketing, however as you use Vapir devices in the long term, you’ll realise that they are built to last. They are built for frequent use and to last for a long time.
It is best to brush any herbal material off the top screen and brush the chamber and bottom screen as well after every session. This will help you to be able to use it longer between times when you do have to do a more thorough cleaning.
When that happens, you’ll have to take the screen out from the chamber and from the mouthpiece. Soak those in rubbing alcohol and clean the mouthpiece with rubbing alcohol as well.
After a while, the screens will wear and you’ll need to replace them eventually.
Replacing the screens and perhaps the battery after a few years is all it needs in terms of replacement parts.
Who is the Vapir NO2 Portable Vaporizer for?
This is a great device for anyone on the tools or working in an environment where things get knocked about. This is a very tough and durable device and ideal for conditions, where there is a possibility for it being dropped for example.
It is also very good for newbies, anyone just getting started with vaporizing. Super easy to operate and maintain, everyone can use it and get instant success with vaporizing. It is also preferred by more senior members of our VapeFuse community, due to its simplicity ease of maintenance.
Conclusion
The Vapir NO2 Portable Vaporizer is a great vaporizer with a unique design. It is a portable vaporizer however, the NO2 is more suitable for home use, as it is not the most discreet vape from Vapir, unlike their Prima portable vaporizer.
It is a high-quality device though, producing top quality vapor regardless if you are new to vaporizing or a vaping veteran.
The NO2 has a lot of great features, such as digital display, replaceable battery, can be used on the charging cable, fast heat up time and excellent vapor quality to list a few. It is a quality device, that you’ll be proud of owning and using for a long time to come.
