Two of the portable vaporizers that I’m likely to refer a customer to when they’re looking for tasty, terpy hits are the Crave Onix and DaVinci IQ portable herb vaporizers.

These unique-looking portables share pretty similar chambers and vapor paths and produce some of the sweetest hybrid convection/conduction vapor you’ll be likely to come across.

If you’re a connoisseur vaper or a flavor fanatic that’s on the hunt for a new portable vape, this is a review for you!

Portable Vape Comparison: Crave Onix vs DaVinci IQ

The DaVinci IQ has been on the market for a little over two years now, while the Crave Onix from Australian-based Crave Vaporizers is just about to drop!

Both devices have been designed with ultimate discreetness and portability in mind, without skimping on flavor or cloud production like the totally underwhelming PAX 3 portable vape.

Flipping the lid off, there are a couple of big differences between the DaVinci IQ and the Crave Onix. The DaVinci IQ boasts a full-ceramic zirconia vapor path and comes equipped with dual, ultra-durable zirconia mouthpieces.

With the flat mouthpiece, you can vape discreetly on the go, while the extended mouthpiece makes sharing sessions a little simpler and less intimate.

The Crave Onix has a magnetic snap-on mouthpiece constructed from food-grade plastic. This mouthpiece has fantastic airflow, but after a couple of long sessions, you’ll notice the mouthpiece affecting flavor a little more than that of the IQ.

Both devices feature ceramic bottom-loading baking chambers for optimized flavor and a consistent vaporization of your herbal blend.

Ceramic can usually go either way, however, with these devices, it has worked well to create a fantastic tasting vapor. The Crave Onix’s chamber is a little wider-set and allows for better airflow than that of the DaVinci IQ.

The IQ’s ceramic zirconia heating pin attached to the hinge helps to compact the chamber and vaporize it a little more evenly. Both strong points of purchase for a portable vape lover.

Crave Onix vs DaVinci IQ

In what I’ll only refer to as a public display of affection from the Melbourne-based vape designers, the Crave Onix features a remarkably similar flavor chamber to that of the DaVinci IQ.

Crave’s chamber is constructed from ceramic, while the shinier tube on the left is comprised of pure ceramic zirconia. These chambers help to cool down the vapor, as well as add flavor when filled with fresh herbs.

The DaVinci IQ comes equipped with a removable 18650 battery which can be useful in extending the session. If you’re a vaper that likes to take your device out and about for days at a time, then the DaVinci IQ may be the device for you.

That being said, it has a battery life of roughly 60 minutes, which is very similar to that of the Crave Onix. Both devices come with Micro-USB charging capabilities.

Crave Onix

With an OLED screen for displaying battery life as well as set and actual temperature in either Celsius or Fahrenheit, the Crave Onix is a super user-friendly vaporizer.

Like most portables, 5-clicks activates the device, and the alternate buttons can be used to switch up the temperature between 150°C (302°F) and 222°C (432°F).

The DaVinci also features full-spectrum digital temperature control and has a temp range of 120°C (250°F) to 220°C (430°F).

You can adjust the temperature by using the buttons on the device, or via the devices Bluetooth-enabled smartphone application. This is an ultra-premium feature that allows you to control temperature paths and get the most out of your herb.

With their latest three releases, the Crave Cloud, Crave Quantum wax pen, and the Onix, Crave has stuck with the aesthetic grey and green theme linking to their Aussie Greenery tagline.

Included in the kit is:

1 x Crave Onix Vaporizer
1 x Packing Tool
1 x Micro USB Charging Cable
1 x Cleaning Brush
User Manual

Crave Onix vs DaVinci IQ

The Crave Onix is the Melbourne-based manufacturers most premium product to date. I give it an 8.5/10 overall, with a 9/10 for flavor and 8/10 for vapor production.

I’ve heard in good confidence that the initial chamber wall has been replaced with one that is easier to clean and operate so I have super high aspirations for this vaporizer.

If you’re new to vaping, or a desktop vaper that’s in the market for an awesome portable to add to their collection, the Crave Onix is the perfect device for you.

The DaVinci IQ comes with one of the coolest accessory packs I’ve ever come across. With the unique orange palette utilized throughout the kit, the tiny boxes and unique accessories are a great touch.

Included in the kit is:

1 x DaVinci IQ Portable Vaporizer
1 x Keychain Tool
1 x Micro USB Charging Cable
1 x Plug-Style Cleaning Brush
1 x Herb Carry Can
1 x 3500mAh Battery
1 x Water Tool Adapter/Mouthpiece Extender
10 x Alcohol Cleaning Wipes
1 x User Manual

Crave Onix vs DaVinci IQ

In terms of flavor, I give the DaVinci IQ a 10/10. The first time I hit a packed chamber I was blown away at the sweet flavors that translated through. I’m a terpene fiend so a vape with a great flavor profile is an absolute must.

While the visible vapor isn’t at the level of say, the Arizer Solo, this vape still blows great clouds and can drag a session out to last as long as ten minutes.
