The CloudV portable vaporizer range represents a list of quality pen style vaporizers. CloudV is often referred to as the ‘king of portable vaporizers’ with the endorsement from no other than Tommy Chong himself.

I started using CloudV vaporizer pens a few years ago and I had the opportunity to try all of their dry herb devices and tested each for a considerable amount of time.  

In this user review, I’ll share my experience with you with two of them, the Phantom Premium and the Phantom Mini.

These two are the most popular in the CloudV ground vaporizer range and due to their similarities, I’ll cover them side by side as we go along. If you are deciding which one to get, I trust reading through this post will surely help you come to a conclusion.

First Impression of the CloudV Phantom Premium and Phantom Mini Vaporizer Pens

Both of these devices come across as high quality from the moment you hold the box in your hands. These vaporizers are well packed with nicely designed boxes creating a quality feel.

Taking out the products from the boxes enhances this feeling. They both have some weight to them, despite their small sizes. Even the Mini has some weight to it, although much lighter than the Premium, simply due to the difference in size.

Design of the CloudV Phantom Premium and Phantom Mini Vape Pens

CloudV vaporizers are famous for their appealing and user-friendly design. They are built with simplicity and reliability in mind.

My favourite thing about these two vaporizers is that they work every time and get the job done. No issues with having to connect to an app, or working out the temperature settings or anything like that. You just press the single button on the vaporizer and get it started. Simple as that.

Both of these vaporizer pens come in a variety of colours to help match your personal style as closely as possible.

They are rather discrete, most especially the Phantom Mini, that is only 13.5cm (less than 5.5 inches) in length.

How to Use the CloudV Phantom Premium and Phantom Mini Vape Pens

When you first get your CloudV vaporizer pen, it is recommended that you put it on the charger and leave it on there for 4 to 6 hours to ‘condition’ the battery.

Once you got that out of the way, you need to turn the mouthpiece anticlockwise to expose the heating chamber.

The Mini has a pretty small chamber and it is more suitable for a single user. The Phantom Premium is made with a bigger chamber and I found it suitable for up to two people to vaporize with.

Pack your chamber lightly with your finely grounded dry herbs before you put the mouthpiece back.
Both of these vaporizers have a simple single button operation. All you have to do is to press the button 3 times in a row to get the heating element started.

The Mini’s button turns red while it is heating up to its one optimised temperature of 210°C – 220°C (410°F – 420°F). Once this preset temperature reached, the button turns to blue, indicating that you are ready to vaporize.

The Premium is very similar, however, it has 3 preset temperatures that you can choose from. After pressing the button 3 times, it starts flashing green while it is heating up to its first preset temperature of 190°C (374°F). Once this temperature is reached, the light turns steady green.

At this point, if you press and hold the button for a few seconds, your vaporizer will start flashing blue and proceeds to heat up to the medium preset temperature of 210°C (410°F). Once the middle temperature is reached, the button turns steady blue. If you keep pressing the button, it will turn to flashing red and heats up to the highest temperature setting of 225°C (437°F).

As soon as you have reached your desired temperature, you can start vaping and enjoy your herbs. It takes less than a minute for these vape pens to heat up, which is better than many other devices on the market.

Both of these vaporizers are going to auto-shutoff after 3 or 4 minutes. You can simply press the button to turn them back on if you’d like to keep going with your vaping.

I often run 2 to 3 sessions on one chamber, checking the herbs in between.  

Battery Life of the CloudV Phantom Premium and Phantom Mini Vaporizers

Both of these vaporizers come with inbuilt lithium ion batteries, that you can charge with the supplied USB cable.

A full charge lasts approximately 5 to 8 vaporizing cycles, that means 45 minutes to an hour of vaporizing time.

It is recommended to leave your brand new vaporizer on the charger for 6 or so hours for the first time and then it should charge up in about 2 to 4 hrs after that.

Try not to leave your device on the charger overnight or for much longer than 4 hours at the time to extend the lifetime of your battery.

Inbuilt batteries are not my favourite, however, high-end vaporizers like the Storz & Bickel Crafty and Mighty portable vapes also come with built-in batteries.

The original CloudV Phantom vaporizer did come with a replaceable battery, however, CloudV has discontinued making that model a while ago.

Vapor Quality of the CloudV Phantom Premium and Phantom Mini

When I first used a CloudV device, I was surprised how good quality vapor I could get from a herbal pen vaporizer. The question we often get here at VapeFuse is if these are ‘true’ vaporizers, or do they burn the herbs like some other pen style vapes on the market.

I have never burnt herbs with a CloudV vape and I don’t think it is even possible. The temperature settings work very well and they produce proper vapor.

Being pen style vapes, the vapor path is short and the vapor can be a little hot and dry, however, both of these pens are available with glass globe and water bubbler mouthpiece attachments, that takes this issue away.

I have tried most portable vaporizers on the market and these two CloudV devices produce average or slightly above average vapor. Definitely impressive if you think about the sizes and prices of these devices.

Who are the CloudV Vape Pens for?

The CloudV devices are for everyone on the go. If you need an easy to use, reliable portable vaporizer that is discreet and produces good vapor, then these CloudV dry herb vapes got you covered. 

They are not necessary for everyday home use, more so for use when you are out and about. Having said that, I would not say they are not built for everyday use. I have used both of these devices extensively and they do last for quite a long time, even with daily usage.

So they can be used every day, however, I would recommend a desktop device for your daily use that produces cooler and even better vapor.
Overall, the CloudV pens have a huge fan base, from fashion chicks to tradesman, they certainly suit many walks of life and lifestyles.

Conclusion

I have had a great experience with the CloudV Vaporizer Pens and I greatly value their reliability and ease of use. I often use them when I travel because I prefer to take a vaporizer with me that is discreet enough and I can just fire up and use anytime. CloudV vape pens are perfect for such.

They are also great for anyone just starting out vaping as they are really simple to use and work every time.

I keep recommending CloudV as I only had great personal experience with their devices. They are also a great company to deal with. Should you ever have any issues, such as a warranty claim or anything else, CloudV is famous for its outstanding service.

They are great value for money and in my view, you can’t really go wrong with a CloudV vape pen.
