In this post, you’ll get a sneak peek of the new Square dual mode herbal vape, that could not have been more appropriately named.
It is a 32mm x 32mm square shaped device that looks a little bit like a fat highlighter. Only 110 mm tall, so it looks like a very portable unit.
It is equipped with a rectangular shaped stainless steel chamber, that you can easily access by removing the cap and the magnetic mouthpiece.
It is a fair size chamber for a small vaporizer, that is made possible by the chubby square-shaped design.
The stainless steel screen of the mouthpiece sits in a silicone pad, so it is easy to remove and clean.
Under the screen, there is a ceramic ‘filter’ that is the only indication that this vape is made by iFocus, the company that is making the popular FocusVape Pro and FocusVape Pro S.
The airflow into the chamber is entirely isolated in the Square vaporizer.
You draw the air into the chamber through the hole that is under the screen on the bottom of the chamber and that air path is sealed from all electronics.
In the above picture, I used one of the supplied pipe cleaners to push the screen out from the bottom of the chamber.
The other end of the air path is on the bottom of the device and it has a mechanism to adjust the airflow.
Above the valve is fully open as you can see and this position gives you the maximum available airflow.
As you slide the valve, the airflow is getting tighter and tighter.
The cap from the top can be attached to the bottom of the unit while you are loading your chamber or while you are vaping, so you don’t have to look for it once your session ends.
The vaporizer is called ‘dual function’ as it can be operated manually by adjusting the temperatures between 80°C and 240°C (176°F to 464°F), just like most other vapes would operate.
A session goes for 5 minutes on manual mode, after that the device shuts off.
The second function is an ‘auto mode’ that starts at a lower temperature and the device keeps increasing the temperature automatically as your session progresses.
In auto mode a session lasts for 7 minutes and goes through the below progression:
- From start to 0.5 minute – 160°C (320°F)
- 0.5 minute to 1 minute – 190°C (374°F)
- 1 minute to 2 minutes – 210°C (410°F)
- 2 minutes to 7 minutes – 240°C (464°F)
This is a little bit like the Davinci IQ’s programmed sessions, but only one of them and you can’t adjust the times and temperature as you can on the Davinci IQ app.
The device is packed in a small and well-designed box.
In the box, you’ll find the Square vaporizer a user’s guide as well as the below accessories:
- USB charging cable (it is a universal 5 pin micro USB cable)
- Pipe cleaners to clean your air path if you ever need to
- Cleaning brush
- Packing Tool
Overall, the Square looks like a solid portable vaporizer with a decent size stainless steel chamber and a fully isolated air path.
I am very hopeful it will produce some great vapor once we fire it up and give it a good spin over the coming days.
As soon as we have some valuable user experience and tips and tricks to share, we’ll publish a full review of the Square vape.
